YES AND MAYBE release their second single ‘Bloody Madness’
The band follow up their debut with new track.
YES AND MAYBE, the up-and-coming Glaswegian and Parisian duo splashed into the scene with their first single God Isn’t Real in March 2025, blending crisp instrumentals and crunchy vocals. Since then, we have been eagerly awaiting their latest single, Bloody Madness, and they’ve cranked up the intensity to the next level. A love letter from the heart to the average person, living their day-to-day life, Bloody Madness is an anthem for those just trying to exist in a world that wants to keep them suppressed.
From the opening riff, it’s clear that YES AND MAYBE are here to make a statement. YES — the French multi-instrumentalist — is deliberately rough around the edges, amplifying the song’s manic energy with slight distortion rather than polishing it away, whilst still keeping the backing instrumentals sharp, providing a poppy backdrop for MAYBE to lay their lyrics of dismay on to.
MAYBE, the Scottish singer paints a picture of modern disillusionment: “We don’t know the truth of anything, it’s harder to accept to accept that we’re all ashamed of sadness, it’s a Bloody Madness.” It’s bleak, but there’s a cathartic release in the way the duo leans into the chaos, portraying the life of young people trying to exist in a world that isn’t made for them.
Bloody Madness isn’t just a song, it’s a middle finger to complacency, rising cost of living and overconsumption. YES AND MAYBE have given us an insight into the messier and real side of indie rock, but here, they’ve distilled it into something even more personal and powerful. If this is a taste of what’s to come from their upcoming album, Train to Nowhere, set to release later this year, we’re in for one hell of a ride.
With clear influences from Franz Ferdinand, Phoenix and MGMT, the band captures a sound from the mid-2000s that has been produced entirely over WhatsApp over the course of three years. The duo are clearly here to make an impact.
