The prolific American hip hop group Public Enemy have just dropped a new surprise album entitled Black Sky Over The Projects: Apartment 2025. Flavor Flav, one of the group’s co-founders, noted that the album was part of an effort to bring their beats to the world and these tracks were a way for fans “to get down at home”.

The album was announced last week over social media, and the group stated that the project was a means of “giving back to the fans” and, as such, are offering fans a “pay what you want” option for the first 72 hours of its release. As of now, the album is exclusively available via Bandcamp.

In addition to eleven new tracks, the album features March Madness, a protest single released on Juneteenth. The track was created in collaboration with university students as a powerful condemnation of the ongoing gun crisis plaguing the United States and the “crooked politicians” complicit in the issue.

The group also performed at the Royal Albert Hall, before setting off on a series of European shows with Guns N’ Roses.
