Irish quintet pôt-pot break onto the scene with six-minute hypnotic ‘WRSW’
The Lisbon-based group put out a droning, dreamlike track alongside news of a full-length debut album, ‘Warsaw 480km’.
Lisbon-based five-piece pôt-pot have announced their debut album, Warsaw 480km, to be released September 19th and with it, lead single WRSW. Built around a story vocalist Mark Waldron-Hyden heard from a chauffeur about driving for days on end, at last passing a sign reading WARSAW 480 KM, the whole track feels like a hazy, eyes-half-open nighttime trip with no end in sight. Over six sprawling minutes, this droning piece of dream-rock at once numbs and intrigues, until the mere concept of time dissolves away and you’re in the passenger seat, eyelids snapping open at the occasional turn or red light.
There’s no doubt, pôt-pot have offered up one of the most hypnotic singles of the year — a ripe taste of what’s to come on the upcoming album — giving familiar movers in the genre like Mandrake Handshake and The Eggmen Whoooooo! a serious run for their money.
Warsaw 480km is out September 19th via Felte. Pre-order on cherry red vinyl from Rough Trade here.
