Coming out of London, a well-known hotbed for music of all genres, ashnymph has made their presence known in the streaming world with their debut track Saltspreader. This track is a very intriguing mix of EDM and rock, as they fuse the two in a manner that makes this track stand out, not sounding too far removed from the bands of past eras.

If this song was planted around the late 2000s to early 2010s, you wouldn’t even blink, as this feels like a track ripped directly from that era of electronic music and placed into the current day.

It would be a massive understatement to say that this is a well-polished track, as the electronic aspects of it are what open up the song at first, making for something that clicks with you. Once the rock aspect swings in, it creates this incredible harmony of genre-blending that makes for something that can be listened to over and over. Bands like Arcade Fire and Animal Collective feel massively influential in the formulation of this track, and it only adds to that feeling of being able to drop this song into 2009 or 2010.

ashnymph put EDM and indie rock together creates an undeniable earworm and a sense of feelings for the past. It will be particularly intriguing to see what the collective does next, as the sky is the limit with how they’ve started for their debut track, and it will no doubt be exciting to follow their journey beyond this track within the streaming world.

Saltspreader is out now via Blitzcat Records.
