Hutch share joyful new single ‘Rustle’
Happiness radiates from every note of the Brighton band’s latest track.
Having spent last summer touring up and down the UK, Brighton’s indie-psych favourites Hutch have kicked off the year with the release of their radiant new single, Rustle. Featuring joyful melodies and uplifting harmonies, the song takes us on a surreal-feeling journey, exploring nature and the surroundings with childlike curiosity.
While confined by lockdown, the band channelled their longing for brighter days into the track, imagining sunny afternoons spent with friends. In their own words, “‘Rustle’ became this fictional child that would be the version of us who went and had these adventures while we were stuck at home, and then come back to tell us about all the fun they had gotten up to.” A sense of this innocent wonder is captured in the lyrics as we’re immersed in Rustle’s world; “Rustle’s making wishes / Feeding all the fishes / The moon bubbled up like a frying pan.”
The band’s psychedelic influences are also noticeable in the twangy Mac Demarco-esque guitar, the gentle rhythmic drums and bell-like keys that give the track a vintage 60’s feel but with a modern Hutch twist.
Rustle perfectly embodies Hutch’s joyous, carefree brand of music and will no doubt be a crowd favourite on their upcoming UK tour that gets underway this week.
